UCWL December 2011 Meeting Minutes

President’s Report

The main agenda for tonight’s meeting is to address any issues pertaining to the final league schedule, as well as, discuss the specific details for the Division I and II Dual tournaments.

 

Announcements:  

  • Results from the multi-meet at HFG will be sent out – overall between the participating teams there were approximately 25 competitive matches.  Would like to see better attendance from experienced wrestlers and middle school age wrestlers.

 

  • Information on the MSWA Competitive State Tournament is posted on the MSWA website.  Aberdeen will host one of the qualifiers, (February 4th) advancing the top 3 finishers in each weight class.  See the website for additional details.

 

Treasury Report

  • Current bank balance as of 12/9/2011 is $6,629.11
  • Working budget spreadsheets were distributed to each team indicating all monies due.  Submit league dues and other outstanding fees to Chris Burns asap.

 

 

Tournament/Schedule dates

Updated schedule has been sent out via email (dated 12/11/11) by Craig Miser.  Coaches should review and communicate any discrepancies as soon as possible to the league president.  Teams will be responsible for attendance as indicated.

 

Note:  February 11 Quad at North Baltimore is looking for additional teams.  This is an opportunity for any team that does not yet have their four allotted meets to pick up an extra.  If interested email Craig Miser.


 

Dual Meet Planning

The Dual Meet tournaments will consist of Division I to be held on January 21, 2012 and Division II to be held on January 22, 2012.  The fee to participate is $200.  Division I will field an Elementary and Middle School team based on age groups and weight classes as outlined in the UCWL by-laws.  Division II will field a straight weight team based on weight classes used in the past. 

 

Coaches were asked to make their division selection and the following was determined:

The following teams have elected not to participate:  Havre de Grace, Joppatowne, Bo Manor, Kent, North East

 

The following teams have not yet made a decision:  Caesar Rodney and Middletown

(note:  deadline for division selection and intent to participate in the Dual meet tournament is December 31, 2011 to Craig Miser.)

 

Division I will be hosted by Bel Air and held at Bel Air High School. Tournament director will be Craig Miser.

 

Division II will be hosted by Emmorton and held at Patterson Mill High School.  One of the participating teams will need to volunteer a tournament director.

 

New business:  Nominations for UCWL All Star Team

South Hagerstown All Star Duals will be held on January 15, 2012. Teams should provide their nominations to Craig Miser including wrestlers name and weight by December 31, 2011.  Weight classes start at 60lbs and go to 235lbs.

 

Reminder:  UCWL Team Rosters

All team rosters are due by email to the league Vice President (Don Ewing) 48 hours prior to the first league scheduled event.  Roster changes will be accepted until January 15, 2012.  No roster changes can be made after this date.  Reminder: wrestlers are to be assigned to only one team roster.

 

Miscellaneous

  • Representation from all teams is mandatory at all general meetings.  Failure to attend or send representation will result in a $40 missed meeting fee.
  • All teams are responsible for review and adherence to league by-laws which can be found on the website.
  • 2011-2012 Contact list is included.
